Ministries

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God– this is your true and proper worship . . . For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us” (Rom 12:1-6).

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (1 Cor 12:7).

It is a joy and privilege to serve God with the gifts God has given to every Christian that God’s people may grow spiritually. Let us give our Lord the best and serve Him with clean hands and hearts. We encourage every Christian to serve the Lord according to your giftedness.

Adult Sunday School

“Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand” (Neh 8:2).

“Ezra the teacher of the Law stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion . . . The Levites–Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah–instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there. They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read” (Neh 8:4, 7-8).

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:11-13).

God has given some people the gift and responsibility to teach God’s Word so that God’s people can understand His Word and grow in faith and knowledge to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Adult Sunday School is divided according to cell groups and fellowship groups. Every year we will study an Old Testament book and a New Testament book. During several weeks in a year, we also have special studies on, e.g., selected theological topics, other faiths, contemporary issues, etc. The Adult Sunday School, besides helping believers to understand God’s word and truths, strives to teach Christians the skills of interpreting the Bible and to equip believers that they may engage the world in a meaningful way. Then, they could be the light and salt of the earth. We learn not only through interaction between teachers and students, but also as students share how they appropriate God’s word in their lives. This makes fellowship with one another wholesome.

Basic Bible Class

This class aims to help unbelievers understand the Christian faith, including the gospel. It also lays the foundation for new Christians by helping them understand fundamental truths of the Christian faith.

Children and Teens Sunday School

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these’” (Matt 19:14). “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Prov 22:6). God loves children. The Children Sunday School aims to teach the gospel that children may receive God’s salvation. The Sunday School also trains them that they may understand God’s word and walk in God holy ways so that “they will not turn from it.”

The present Children and Teens Sunday School comprises a pre-school class, a lower primary school class and a class comprising those who are in the upper primary and lower secondary schools.

Cell Groups and Fellowship Groups

When God’s people fellowship with each other, it is a blessed time: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head . . . It is as if the dew of Hermon . . .” (Psalm 133:1-3). “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another– and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Missions

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age'” (Matthew 28:18-20). The church has a responsibility to preach the gospel and makes disciples of people in Singapore and in foreign lands.

We are presently supporting three pastors in East Asia. Please pray for them and their families as they reach out to their communities with God’s love and truth. Pray also for perseverance when they face opposition to the gospel.

Choir

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts” (Colossians 3:16). Christian songs are God’s word (“the message of Christ”) in the form of music. The choir meets twice in a month on Sunday afternoons to practise songs which will be presented during the church gospel Sundays.
