“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” (Deut 8:3).
God brought His people into the wilderness so that they lack food. This taught the people that they needed to depend on God’s word, that is, to obey God’s word to live. When you hear a sermon, seek to understand the passage a bit deeper; to know what you should do about your life; pray that God will speak to you.
