Pastoral Letters are weekly communications from our church pastor to the congregation.  They are mostly original reflections on the Word of God in response to church events or current affairs, local or beyond, with the primary intent to exhort Christians to live rightly before God in the real world.  Short bibliographies are sometimes featured towards the same end.

We pray that these writings will be a great blessing to you!

How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place

I send you greetings from Cape Town.  Except for a washing machine that leaks out water and I had to hand wash my clothes, I am happily settled down.  The washing was pretty easy and thank God that the sun came out and I could dry my clothes.  My residence...

Chinese New Year Visitation

I want to wish one and all a blessed Chinese New Year from Cape Town, South Africa.  By last (yesterday) afternoon, many food centres would be deserted as many Chinese made arrangements to have reunion dinner with loved ones.  Some of you would be travelling overseas.  Today is the first...

Guard God’s Church

As I write this pastoral letter, the safety of the church weighs on my heart.  I will be away for about 3-4 months.  It is not too long a period but yet there is enough time for the church to get hurt.  That was also Paul’s concern in Acts 20:29,...

YPF Camp 2012 : Great is His Faithfulness

“I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22); “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6) The Young People’s...

Serving God in the New Year

I was very pleased to see so many coming forward to serve during last Sunday’s dedication service. The ages of people who are serving in at least one ministry this year range from 12 years old to above 70 years old. While some are more conversant in the Chinese language,...

Spiritual Exercises

The Apostle Paul says: “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” (1Tim 4:8).  Physical training builds up the physical strength and stamina of an athlete so that he wins a prize. ...

Those Who Bring Good News

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Rom 10:15)  This bible verse aptly describes the carollers and brethren who opened their houses for the recent Christmas Carolling.  They brought the good news of Christmas to their non-believer relatives and friends.  Along with their melodious singing, the...

Celebrating Christmas

Since young, many like I, always look forward to the Christmas season.  Several reasons make the season joyous: the cool December weather, holidays, the beautiful Christmas carols, and presents.  The giving of presents captures the meaning of Christmas. My point is not that you must buy a present for someone...

Setting Objectives for Year 2013

We have almost come to the end of this year 2012.  It can be a most frightening thought.  It is frightening for at least two reasons.  First, an enormous amount of time, which in reality is our own life has passed away.  1 year or 365 days which works out...
