Invite
You may not know how to preach. But you can invite your friends and relatives to come. Jesus once told a parable about inviting people to come and enjoy a king’s banquet. Many gave invalid excuses not to attend. In response, the king told his servants: “go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find” (Mat 22:9). Do not be discouraged by rejections. The least expected person may just come. If those whom you invite do not come, it does not matter. You have done your best. God is pleased with your best.
Pray
Paul once requested the Ephesian Christians: “Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak” (Eph 6:19-20). When Christians work to spread the gospel, the devil will also work to hinder souls from being saved. Hence, we must pray. But some prayers have no power. Some are very powerful. Whose prayer is powerful? Answer: the prayer of a spiritual Christian. That’s why before Paul asks them to pray for him, he tells them that they must first put on the whole armour of God (Eph 6:11-17). You must avoid sin. Live a godly life. Then your prayer will be powerful.
Attend
If the gospel rally is poorly attended, the singing will not be good. Imagine: there are so many chairs, and half the chairs are empty. The whole ambience will look very pathetic. The whole worship hall will feel very cold. Hence, just your presence alone will be an encouragement to everyone. Let’s heed the instruction of the apostle: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching” (Heb 10:24-25). Let us warm each other with our presence and encouragement. Gospel work is a lot of hard work. Do not discourage each other by laziness or critical remarks. Instead, motivate each other to serve the Lord and work hard in this gospel rally.
Invite. Have you invited someone? Please do. Go in the courage of the Lord. Pray. Have you been praying? Pray without ceasing for the speaker, translator, chairman, the choir, the cross-talk, and all who are serving. Pray daily. Attend. Put aside all other activities. Please give priority to God’s work, the most important work—to save souls. If you are willing to be used by the Lord, the Lord will not despise you and can use you greatly. Be willing to be used by the Lord.
