Jesus Christ Died for Me

“TREBES: Tributes flooded in Saturday (Mar 24) for a French policeman who died after offering himself in exchange for a hostage held by an extremist gunman in a supermarket siege, with President Emmanuel Macron hailing him “a hero.”

Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Beltrame swapped places with a hostage during the supermarket attack in Trebes France, saving her life, but losing his own. Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Beltrame exchanged places with a hostage.  He set the hostage free in exchange for his life. This was the sacrificial love of Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Beltrame.” While the world paid tribute to Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, did it consider his credentials?

Our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit and their consequence was death. From then on, every man born of Adam’s race inherits a sinful nature. The natural man is under the bondage of Satan, sin and death.

Did the world consider that he is fraught with sins, and that he cannot die in place of others as sinful as he? Did it consider the one perfect redeemer of our sins – the Lord Jesus Christ?

John 10:10b;15b:

I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 15:13:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

God loves you and me. He knows that for us to be set free from sin, death and judgement, someone must take the punishment on our behalf. Then, we can be set free like the hostage who was held by the terrorist in the supermarket attack. Out of his infinite love and mercy, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on our behalf. By Christ dying on our behalf at the cross of Calvary, we are saved. We will have our sins forgiven forever and have life abundant and eternal. We will be set free from the bondage to sin, death and judgement.

This is the promise of God in John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only son.  That whosoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Jesus Christ, like the police officer, has given His life for you so that you in turn can have life, just as the hostage was set free because of the police officer.

However, the police officer is fraught with sins that he committed in his lifetime. He cannot save the whole world from sin and death.

Jesus is the Son of God and is fully God and Man and lived a sinless perfect life on earth. Only Jesus Christ alone can save us from our sins and God’s judgment. He alone can set us free to live an abundant and eternal life. He is able to pay for our sins, and not just for yours and mine, but for the sins of the whole world.

If you have not, may I strongly urge you to come and believe in Jesus Christ as your Saviour so that you may live and not die, and receive salvation grace.
