This cult started in Korea. It believes that Ahnsahnghong is the Christ and only by believing in his name can you be saved. This is blasphemy. The Bible says that “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). And the name is Jesus Christ, not Ahnsahnghong who was born and raised in South Korea.
The cult also states: “Both males and females were created in the image of God, and thus it is clear that God has two images: a male image and a female image. When God said, ‘Let us make man in our image,’ God used the word ‘us’—a plural term—instead of using ‘me.’ We come to understand that not one God, but two Gods—a Father and a Mother—worked together during the Creation.”
Regarding the plural term, “God,” Scholars offer several possible explanations. It could refer to the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. A more likely explanation is that God was speaking to the heavenly court or angels, thus He says, “Let us . . .” But only God alone created mankind as the singular masculine verb, “created” in 1:27 shows: “God created mankind” (Gen 1:27). Thus, the plural term “God” does not mean two Gods: Father and Mother.
Regarding their claim of “God the Mother,” the Bible clearly refutes it. First, the Bible often addresses God as Father but never once as “God the Mother.” Yet this cult could so unashamedly say “it is clear.” In fact the word “created” in 1:27 is masculine in gender which would speak against the concoction of “God the Mother.” In fact, many Bible verses address God as Father: “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name’” (Matt 6:9); “And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa 9:6); “For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval” (John 6:27). God is sometimes described as having the qualities of a mother but is never addressed as “God the Mother.” For example: “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” (Isa 49:15). Thus, the Bible mentions “God the Father” and never “God the Mother.”
How do humans have the image or likeness of God? The Bible urges us to be like God in holiness: “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Pet 1:16); “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt 5:48). Paul describes the image of God as the glory of Christ: “the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor 4:4). Let us continue to equip ourselves with God’s Word:
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature . . . Then we will no longer be infants . . . blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. (Eph 4:11-14).
God has given different people responsibilities and gifts to teach you God’s Word through Sunday sermons, Adult Sunday School, Christian literature, theology books, etc. Your duty is to work hard at studying the Bible. Then you will not be deceived and your soul will not be hurt by cults.
