The Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) was formed in the year 2010. It provides an avenue for good Christian fellowship and where our youths are grounded in the word of God. The YPF welcomes all youths from 9 years to 20 years old. We meet every first and third Saturday of each month. Besides these regular Saturday fellowship meetings, we also organise outings and youth camps.
YPFers will be our next generation of Christians and the future leaders for the church. The church sees the importance of nurturing and shepherding the hearts of these youths, so that they will grow up to be firm in their faith, assured of their salvation and their character moulded so they can be like king David – a man after God’s own heart.
On 26th December 2012, 40 campers, comprising youths ranging from 9 years to 16 years old and adults, attended the YPF camp at Changi Fairy Point Chalet at Leuchars Road (off Catterick Road). The theme of the camp was JOURNEY 2013 – THE SEARCH FOR GOD. The camp lasted 3 days and 2 nights. The youths listened to messages covering topics such as “Does God exists?”, “Is the bible reliable?”, “Who is Jesus Christ?”, etc.
Through these messages, the youths’ faith was strengthened. For our new friends, it was a time of soul searching. We thank God that several souls were saved through the camp. The youths made new friends, got to know each other better and enjoyed each other’s company. They learned how to present a speech, as well as practical sewing and culinary skills. The youths also learned about the Lordship of Christ, doing quiet time, and they also reflected and planned for year 2013.
It was also a blessing for the adult helpers as they enjoyed the fellowship while they worked together, discussed and solved problems. I thank God for His providence from planning, to running, and even to attending the camp. God provided us with a good venue at a discounted price, an awesome camp committee who worked tirelessly to ensure that the youths had a good camp.
We also thank God for a good camp commandant, for the design of the camp tee-shirt which is also the YPF tee-shirt which wears a nice lime-green colour. God provided us fine weather so that the youths could have an outdoor barbecue—thank God. We enjoyed the evening boardwalk and had fun launching rockets by the beach. We appreciate our prayer warriors who prayed fervently for the camp. Except the LORD work, we labour in vain.
May the YPF camps continue to be remembered as the camp of the year worth waiting for! May I echo what the psalmist says in Psalm 100:5 – “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
