The Power of Prayer

In this hectic life of the 21st century, where we are so caught up with our career, studies, family and the fast pace of technology and social media.  Oftentimes, we miss out the most important things in life.  We begin our day hurriedly and does our mundane things in life day in and day out.  Oftentimes, we are so fatigue and tired at the end of a stressful life.

Many are anxious about their livelihood and whether they would still have a job in the ever changing landscape.  Many are anxious about their children.  How would our children perform academically and how would our children will turn out to be.  Many spend sleepless nights thinking about finance, family and career.

Oftentimes, we are defeated and overwhelmed by the issues in life.  Oftentimes, we struggle with our Christian and is defeated by our sin, our fiercest enemy Satan and the world attractions.

God has given us a very powerful means to overcome our fear, doubt, fear and defeat in our Christian life.  God has given us the privilege of prayer.  Prayer comforts those who are anxious or sinking into the depths of depression.  The key to the power of prayer lies with Jesus Christ promise to his disciples as recored for us in In Matthew 18:19-20, “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”.

There are dozens of real-life accounts in the Bible where Jesus and other disciples battled in prayer. God shut heavens and prevented rain from falling for three years at Elijah’s request. He parted the red sea for Moses to lead His people through. He cast out demons; Jesus healed the sick and gave sight to the blind, make the lame to walk again and raised people from the dead, like Lazarus.

Our God is powerful.  The Lord God Almighty can do all things; there is nothing impossible for Him (Luke 1:37). The character and heart of God is the very fabric of the gospel. When we close our eyes, get on our knees, the spirit of God whispers, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” It’s as if to say to our hearts, no need is too great or small.

Each of us who are born again believer has the privilege of prayer. The power of prayer lies with power of our God.  God encourages and wants us to come to him in prayer.  God wants us to tap on His power to meet our daily needs and delivers us from fear doubt and anxiety. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” We have been given access to the very throne of God through prayer.  Let us not miss the opportunity to make our needs known to God and God promise that He will supply all our needs according to his purpose.

Every Tuesday, we meet as a church to pray.  We pray for the needs of God’s people be it health, career, studies, the church pulpit messages, Sunday worship, Sunday School , Church Choir and Fellowship.  We bring before the throne of grace the salvation needs of our loved ones.  The power of our church pulpit messages, church ministries and meeting the needs of every individual lies with the power of prayer.  We have heard testimonies of how our God has work wonders in answering our prayers.

Let us learn the power of prayer.  Let us know we have a Almighty God who is able and more than willing to help us in our hour of great needs.  Let us learn to be still and know that we have a God who is Almighty.  Let us come in quietness to enjoy the fellowship with God our heavenly Father.  Let us learn to have trust and faith to believe in our God who hear and answers our prayer.  Let us not miss out the power of prayer.  Let us daily come before God’s throne to tap on the power of God who promises us that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
