Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

First, the logo is a tree. The emphasis of this tree is that it bears “twelve crops of fruit.” This fruit represents not only eternal life but also a holistic life, physical and spiritual. How good is this fruit?

After Adam and Eve sinned, God drove them away from this tree. They had a chance to eat its fruit that brings eternal life but foolishly rejected it when they sinned against God in the Garden of Eden. But thank and praise God: this tree that brings eternal fruit now appears again to humankind in the final book of the Bible, Revelations. Our physical and spiritual needs can now be completely and forever satisfied.

Second, leaves. “The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” You will notice the leaves seem to explode outwards. This represents a vibrant life. The nations of the world can receive healing of mental, spiritual and physical wounds. In this present world, we feel sometimes that only the rich and powerful, the clever and good looking could get the best things in life. Thus, if you are rich, you can engage the best doctor to heal your sickness, you can employ the best tutor for your child, and you can even change your looks. But now, the whole world, everyone, can obtain this eternal life and enjoy the best things.

Third, river. “The river of the water of life.” Why could the tree bear fruit to give to humankind eternal life or “leaves” to heal all nations and everyone? This is because the tree is nourished and energised by “the river of the water of life,” that is, the water gives life. But why is the water so nutritious? That’s because the water “flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb [the Lord Jesus Christ].” This water can give life for two reasons. For one, it comes from “the throne of God.” “Throne” means king and a king has authority. As a result, this water can overrule all oppositions that could destroy life. Nothing can stop this water from giving eternal life, be it sin, evil human beings or Satan. Also, this water flows from the Lamb, Jesus Christ. This lamb is the lamb that was sacrificed on the cross to remove sin. Sin is the only thing that can stop us from receiving life. Now, it has been removed forever by Jesus the Lamb of God. Nothing can stop us from life. These, namely, the power of God the king and the sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ, make this water so full of life.

Everyone who is willing to believe in Jesus as Saviour will have the privilege of eating the fruit that grows on the Tree of Life. You will then receive eternal life. Dear friend, I urge you to believe in Jesus today to receive the precious gift of eternal life. Dear Christian, Jesus gives eternal life that satisfies you completely. You do not need to depend on sin or the world to be happy. Hence, follow and trust your Saviour Jesus.
