“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” What do people gain from all their labours at which they toil under the sun? (Eccl 1:2-3).
You must believe Solomon’s conclusion. Why? He is the wisest, wealthiest, and most resourceful man in history. This means that if he wants to make himself happy and bring meaning to his life, he is most able to do so. If he cannot bring meaning to his life, you also will not be able to do so because you are not cleverer, richer, or more resourceful than he.
Solomon’s conclusion is life is meaningless. Hence, you do not need to try to use the things of the world to bring meaning to life. You will fail. Only Jesus can bring meaning to life: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10). This is true because Christians can testify to this fact: when we believe in and live in obedience to Jesus, our life becomes very satisfying. But when we refuse to believe in and choose to disobey Jesus, life becomes very unhappy. We lose the peace in our hearts. Jesus can truly bring real happiness to human beings. If you love your friend or relative, you must urge him to believe in Jesus.
Everyone needs Jesus and needs to hear the gospel. The Bible says: “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Heb 9:27). After we die, every human being must face the judgement of God. Is there judgement? In the human world, when someone commits a crime, he will be judged by judges in a criminal court. Do you not think it is reasonable that in the spiritual world, the sins we commit will also be judged by the Supreme Judge of the universe, God? Even Chinese say: “Those who do good will be repaid by good. Those who do evil will be repaid by evil. If your sins are not repaid for in this world, they will be repaid for in the coming world.” The Bible says that “all have sinned” (Rom 3:23) in our thought, word, and deed. But praise God, Jesus is able to take away the eternal punishment in hell due to sin because
God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor. 5:21)
God placed our sins on Jesus and He was punished in our place. Thus, we need not face punishment anymore. Your sin must face punishment. If no one takes your punishment, you must face punishment. There is no escape. Do you want to face punishment? Please don’t because the punishment is eternal hell. Jesus loves you and is worthy to take the punishment because He is sinless. No one else can take the punishment because every human being, except Jesus, has sinned against God and needs to be punished.
Your friend, relative, and those you love need Jesus because only Jesus can truly satisfy your friend. Only Jesus can take away the punishment due to sin. Invite your friend to the coming gospel rally.
Every Christian, please come and support these TWO nights, both Friday and Saturday. Above all, live a holy life. Keep away from sin, especially starting Wednesday so that God can use you, and so that God will hear your prayers. Please pray for me as I preach and for new friends to come. Pray continually (1 Thess 5:17).
