When Jesus saw the crowd, he had compassion on the crowd because they were like sheep without a shepherd. He was so burdened that he told his disciples to pray that the Lord of the harvest (God) would send out workers to the harvest field for the purpose of bringing the lost people into God’s kingdom.
God answered this prayer when Jesus subsequently sent out his twelve disciples to the nation of Israel to bring them into God’s kingdom. They shared about Jesus who is their Saviour.
After Jesus’ death and resurrection, and before his ascension to heaven, He gave his disciples this Great Commission.
Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This is our Lord’s command for us who are His redeemed, that we are to go and make disciples of all nations. We who are His redeemed, saved by Jesus Christ from God’s judgment. We are hence obligated and commanded to go and make disciples of all nations. Jesus has given the authority for us to go and He promised to be with us always till the very end of the age.
Our church has planned many programs for evangelism. Every Tuesday in our prayer meeting, a handful will come before the throne of grace of our Almighty God to pray and plead with God for the salvation of our loved ones. Without fail, we will pray for the salvation of those listed.
We have heard the testimonies of those who came to trust the Lord because of perseverance and persistence of prayer and sharing of the gospel truth.
We have our annual gospel meetings. This year by faith, we will conduct two nights of gospel meetings – One night in English and another night in Chinese.
In addition, we will have our Christmas carolling where we will bring God’s salvation message to the homes of our church members, with non-Christian guests.
We will also be publishing a list of names whom we are praying for in our church weekly. This serves as a powerful means of constantly reminding us about reaching out to our loved ones.
May our church have the same top priority as our Lord Jesus by having compassion for the lost and reaching out to them with the gospel message which speaks about how our Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth to save us from our sins and to give us eternal life.
