Fourteenth Anniversary Sharing

Pastor Andrew Tan
Due to a lack of space, I have requested the church committee members to share some thoughts. These thoughts, I am quite certain, would have spoken aloud what you feel in your heart. As the church pastor, I am very grateful to God for moving many of you to help build God’s church. Your love without hypocrisy has comforted those in sorrow. Your generous giving has helped us purchase and maintain the church premises. The exercise of your spiritual gifts has strengthened our spiritual person. Your Christian testimony shines brightly in a dark world. I thank God for you—the church. You have brought life to many. “And on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matt 16:18b).

Elder Teo Chin Tian
We thank God for His faithfulness for seeing our church through 14 years! Thank God for His grace, mercy, “for the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:5). God has never failed to provide what we need.  God has provided us with a beautiful sanctuary where we can worship God. He has also provided us a godly pastor who loves and fears God. We thank God for raising elders, deacons and Christian congregants who love the Lord! We must also not forget godly teachers who taught in the Sunday Schools. We thank God for raising godly leaders in running the various church ministries and outreaches.  We thank God above all for His redeemed in the church, for the unity of mind and heart as we do the gospel work. We continue to pray that God will use our church for His glory and gospel work.

Elder Liu Kerh Li
Tree of Life Christian Church is a warm and spiritual family.  Brothers and sisters of the church are indeed like members of a family, caring for each other, encouraging and keeping a look out for one another. Whenever a brother or sister is in need, the members of the church would pray for them and sprang to action, brainstorming collectively in finding ways to help. TOLCC is also the foundation and cornerstone of truth. We learn precious Bible truths from the pulpit and Sunday school every Lord’s day. Special theology lessons held in the church helps in raise the importance and knowledge of our brothers and sisters in Bible theology.  May TOLCC be greatly used by God in building up more lives and glorifying God’s name!  Also, may TOLCC be blessed, our brothers and sisters enriched spiritually, and be more like Christ! “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Deacon Koo Sin Kok
The church is like a lifeline to Christians as it was bought with Christ’s precious blood. As life gets busier (especially ever since the pandemic started), some Christians may find it cumbersome to come to church on Sundays and attend prayer meetings on Tuesdays. But they may not understand that God’s children need these to stay alive (spiritually). Our spirits will feel tired because of life’s stresses (work, family, health, etc.). In order to keep our spiritual lives (hearts) throbbing and not dead, we also need to care for those in need. Thank God for bringing new friends and those who are sick into our midst. All that God asks of us is to put into action what we have learned so much from the Bible. When we see what is happening in this world, we understand that time is running out. Let us strive to work harder to serve our God who has saved us from eternal condemnation. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

Deacon Lawrence Lai
“We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3). There is so much to thank God for in His protection and guidance over the Church for the last 14 years and many more years to come. We want to thank God for every faithful worshipper for their love of the church in serving faithfully in the different ministries and giving faithfully with tithes and offerings. We want to thank God for blessing the Church with many new friends and loves ones who have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ through our regular gospel meetings and many have made TOLCC as their spiritual home. May we all be like a tree planted by the streams of the Living water that will bear much fruits in season and living a life full of the Holy Spirit that will please Him in every way. Let us continue to grow our faith through His living word and abound in good works that will glorify the Father in heaven. Happy 14th Anniversary TOLCC. Amen!

Sister Chen Ming
Thank God. Compared to pre-pandemic period, there is an increase in the number of new friends staying back for service or Sunday School. Attendance is also more consistent. Jesus’ love is like the blood which flows through the body of the church and is energized by our love for each other. It nourishes our brothers and sisters’ lives and bears the fruit of the Spirit and love. Our church has become the loving and caring big family talked about by our new friends. “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us.” (1 John 4:12) May God use Tree of Life Christian Church to open the eyes of many more to see Jesus Christ that they may have life in his name.
