Serve God With All Your Might

Thank God for the Dedication Service last Sunday. It is heartwarming to see practically the whole church being involved in one or more ministries. God has given each of us different gifts and talents for the purpose of building the church, which is the body of Christ.

God requires our faithfulness in the capacity that you serve in. As it says in Col 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Let us be mindful that how we serve does not depend on the importance or size of our ministry. Let us serve with all our might, as to the Lord, and without any regard of how people may view our ministry. Our attitude towards service for God should be driven by how much we love God. We should love God with all our strength, might and soul. We should be ever-ready, punctual and be prepared before service for God. Give God the best efforts. Go the extra mile in the area of service.

I was recently observing a young man at his workplace in a restaurant. He was constantly moving and serving his customers. Towards the end of the day, at the end of his shift, he was checking to ensure that the restaurant was well-cleaned, even though most of his colleagues had already left work for the day. 1 Pet 4:11, “If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” At the end of the day, his supervisor was so impressed with his enthusiasm that he granted him lighter duties. Just like this man, if we are faithful, God would see our service and surely reward us in due time.

Let us adopt this servile attitude, as displayed by Peter in his service for the Lord.

In order to serve God with all our might, it is imperative that we keep our daily quiet time with God. We should prepare our hearts to serve God in prayer. We should also be disciplined to keep our daily quiet time and prayer with God.

In the secular world, we are often being trained to strengthen our skills-set. Let us also equip ourselves with a skills-set for service for God. We should be teachable and open to instructions. We should be patient to help each other, to spur one another to excellence in our service for God. Let us work together to mutually encourage and uphold each other in prayer. Let us work cohesively.

Let us know that God’s grace is sufficient for us, and His strength is made perfect in weakness. Let us trust God that He would grant us grace to fulfil our responsibilities in our service for God. God assures us that He would reward us in His own way. God is no debtor to anyone who gives Him his best effort. When God calls us into His ministry, God would also give us the ability to do our job. He only requires us to serve Him with all our might, and for His glory. Eccl 9:10 reminds us, that, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”  God Bless!
