The church name and logo are also designed to encapsulate this message. It is designed according to the picture of the tree of life painted in Revelation 22:1-2:
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
The tree trunk which is painted in blue signifies the life giving water that flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb, and it nourishes the tree. The green leaves that appear to explode outwards represent the fruit of abundant life that is given to everyone who receives the Lamb, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour.
My prayer is that as we celebrate the church 8th anniversary, first, we would also dedicate our lives afresh to the Lord: to bring to our loved ones and those who are still outside God’s kingdom the abundant and eternal life of Jesus Christ. Everyone needs Jesus because Jesus alone can bring us salvation. For one, Jesus alone has conquered death, humankind’s most dreaded enemy. Furthermore, Jesus alone can gain us unlimited access to God’s favour. He did that when He died on the cross for sins and hence appeased God’s anger on us due to sin. From then on humankind can approach God for favours without fear of rejection. With God’s favour on us, we receive help to live life (Hebrews 4:16).
Second, as we celebrate, we must count God’s blessing on us as individuals and as a church. Each Christian can testify to the fact that ever since Jesus came into our lives to become our Saviour, we experienced the peace, love, comfort, and sure guidance of our Lord. We also found strength and comfort from our fellow Christians. As a small church, the Lord has been merciful to use us who are unworthy people. He has blessed our labour for Him in small ways and big ways. He has answered our prayers and brought salvation to our loved ones. Nothing is more joyous than seeing our loved ones receiving the precious gift of eternal life. The Lord enabled us not only to buy another unit, 07-03, in 2015, we have also started returning a good portion of the loan we took from some members. Our gospel and community work to the residents in Bukit Batok also started last year. The Lord has also seen us through a year when the English and Mandarin congregations worshipped separately. The Lord enabled many to continue to serve the Lord faithfully and humbly in different ministries, and in ways known and unknown to people. The Lord continues to provide us good leaders and a faithful church administrator who serve the Lord faithfully. There are many things for which to thank God. Indeed, “Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psa 106:1).
