The church will hold our annual gospel rally on 2nd September 2016, Friday at 8pm. The events on this day are specially crafted so as to help new friends understand the meaning of the gospel, that is “good news,” about Jesus Christ. We will help them understand through a gospel message which will be preached by Rev Goh Seng Fong. We will probably also request someone to share on why he or she believes in Jesus Christ. Also, we will form a choir which will present two songs: one will be sung in Chinese, and the other in English. These two songs will also contain content that helps a person better understand the gospel. To realise the gospel rally we need to do two things.
First, we need to form a choir which will practice eight times. All practices will be held on Sundays, from 1:30pm to 3pm. We will be engaging a trainer to teach us. We welcome anyone who is a Christian, who is 12 years old or more, young or old, to come forward and form this choir. We hope to present the songs in the four type of voices: bass, alto, tenor, and soprano. Then the song will sound beautiful. You may not know how to preach the gospel, but by singing, you are also doing gospel work, even preaching the gospel through a song. You will miss your afternoon nap but it’s worth it. First, you get to fellowship with other Christians in a very meaningful and joyous way. Second, more importantly, your time is well spent because it will reap eternal times—it brings eternal life to the audience. Also, you learn important techniques of singing.
Second, more importantly, you need to invite friends to attend. This is most important. Invite your family members, relatives, colleagues, and friends. They will enjoy this evening. People have come to know Jesus as Saviour through the gospel rally. Some may not believe in Jesus on that night, but the impression left on them attracted them to Christ later. God promises us that the gospel that is preached is powerful: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the gentile” (Rom 1:16-17). Do not belittle the preaching of the gospel: it is God’s power. But if you hope that your loved ones come, you must pray regularly that God will move his/her heart. You must start contacting and caring for that person. Then you must invite him/her. “What if that person doesn’t come? I’d be very disappointed.” Your duty is to care, love, and invite. Leave the rest to God. You must save souls. Don’t let them go to hell. If you love them, start praying and then invite them.
