What is our role in the Gospel Rally? To preach and bring others to Christ? As what Rom 10:14-15 says – our role is to preach to them. We are not responsible to ensure that people are saved. Our role is merely to preach the gospel. We have done well. We prayed for our friends and loved ones, then invited them to the rally. When we see Christ again, He is surely going to reward us for participating in the Great Commission, Matt 28:18-20: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
When we do gospel work, Satan is surely very unhappy. Many had difficulties in bringing their loved ones. One mother-in-law had to undergo an emergency operation on the day of the Gospel Rally, and thus could not bring her mother to the rally. There was another whose car broke down just before the rally.
He was faithfully practicing in the choir practices leading to the rally, but was prevented from attending because of a car break down. Some of the members’ loved ones could not attend because of medical appointments. These loved ones expressed disappointment at having missed the rally. Were these mere coincidences or the work of Satan?
Nevertheless, we rejoice as we know that we are in God’s favour when Satan schemed so hard. There were more than 30 friends who visited us, and one even raised her hand to accept Christ. Praise the Lord! Even with that one soul saved, the angels in God’s kingdom rejoiced: Luke 15:10 –“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
God provided us with fine weather, so that our friends and loved ones were not discouraged by bad weather to turn up for the Gospel Rally. God provided us with a dynamic speaker and a brother who gave his testimony. The church worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth running of the gospel rally.
God is faithful too. He provided us with great prayer warriors, who fervently listed and prayed for their friends and loved ones to come. We had choir members who faithfully stayed to practise. We thank God for our teacher and conductor, who provided constant encouragement so that untrained as we were in music and singing, on the day of our presentation, we were able to provide us with a beautiful rendition of two pieces – “The Way of the Cross” and “想.”. The other members were also not slack. Pastor took us through The Four Spiritual Laws, to equip those of us who may be tongue-tied, with ready words and methodology, so that we would be able to share effectively the gospel of Jesus Christ as our Saviour. We even had an assistant conductor, who supplemented the training while our choir teacher was rushing down from his church. God also raised a talented pianist, who mesmerised us with his music. Thank God!
How do we take it from here? Do we sit back to relax until the next gospel meeting? No! We will need to diligently follow up with the one soul who is saved. For those who did not express a desire to accept the gospel and saving grace of Jesus Christ our Lord, let us continue to pray fervently, and not lose heart. Remember Pastor’s appeal that our responsibility to spread the gospel, and ultimately the work of salvation belongs to God. We thank God for a successful gospel night. Our God is good and His mercy endures forever. Thank God!
