As before, we will present the state or progress of various church ministries in 2015 during this year’s ACM. In fact, members should already have a copy of various ministry reports. Do read through it carefully so that you are adequately informed to participate in any discussion. Please do not take this as just going through the motion because the reports are given not only to testify to God’s faithfulness in leading the church, they also present obstacles and challenges that the church face in growing these ministries together with plans to overcome them. As you read through the reports, may you be moved to rise up to the challenge and contribute in whatever way possible. Or at least, you could know how to pray for the various church ministries more concretely. During the ACM, Pastor and leaders of the church will also share about important plans for 2016 and beyond. As we table out the details, may God also move each and everyone in the midst to support the plans and contribute by playing one’s part. Church work is never just the prerogative of Pastor or a selected few in the church. It is our hope that every child of God will take up the responsibility to build the church and build lives. When it is so apparent that there are many lost souls to be saved, countless lives awaiting to be helped, and the need to have more people stepping out to serve being so acute, it is wrong to ignore the call and continue to mind our own business. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29). From God, we received the precious gift of salvation, a resurrected life, the hope of heavenly glory, the peace that transcends all understanding, and many more other blessings. We ought then to be thankful to Him and repay His kindness by serving Him faithfully. Therefore, after listening to all the sharing on church plans, please do not think that they have nothing to do with you, or feel that you have nothing to contribute. Do seriously think through how you can support any of the church ministries. Pastor or leaders of the church are more than happy to discuss all the details with you.
Other topics that will be covered in this year’s ACM include church financial report and budget, a motion to have some minor amendments on church constitution, as well as re-election of church committee. These are all very important topics and require your serious participation. We are free to have different opinions during our discussion but please do not allow this to destroy the spirit in serving God with one mind and unity of hearts. We welcome any requests for clarification on subject matters or expression of differing opinions. Please do so with care. Speak the truth in love so that discussions could be carried out harmoniously.
Based on previous years’ ACMs, your active participation was evident. Let’s pray that this time that our zeal and love for God’s house be upped a notch higher. “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God” (William Carey – Father of Modern Missions).
